Performing Umrah is a dream that every Muslim ummah wants to come true. Not everyone gets so lucky to perform umrah, so if you have the opportunity of going to Makkah to perform umrah, then you are the guest of Allah. The thing is, you have to know how umrah is completed correctly. How Umrah is performed: umrah step by step

To perform, umrah you have to visit Makkah, Saudi Arabia. It is one of the famous religious journeys for every Muslim who can afford it mentally, physically, and financially.

Anyone can perform umrah anytime in the whole year. This section has tried to discuss the steps to achieve a successful umrah.

Step 1:

Niyyah

Before starting the journey, you have to be clear with your intention as to what you want to perform – umrah or hajj.

Step 2:

Ihram

This is the state where every pilgrim has to enter physically and spiritually in the “Miqat,” which is the border where every pilgrim has to start for the religious journey.

When you are wearing an ihram, you cannot use any perfume on the body or the white cloth. Men have to wear these clothes, but women can wear any with intention.

Then to start the journey, you have to pray two raka’at of Salah as it is the first step of starting your umrah.

If you are flying from a different destination, you have to start with ihram as you will be crossing the “Miqat.”

As for the “miqat”, there are different destination boundaries that pilgrims have to pass while traveling towards the Makkah. The “Miqat” points are:

  • For the pilgrims coming from Madinah have to pass Dhu’l Hulaifah.
  • The pilgrims coming from Egypt, Sudan or Morocco have to cross the Miqat point Al- Juhfah.
  • Qarn- al manazil is the Miqat point for the pilgrims for Taif or najd.
  • For Pakistan, Yemen and Indian pilgrims, the Miqat point is Yalamlam.
  • And lastly Iraqi pilgrims have to pass Dhat irq point to reach Makkah for umrah.

Step 3:

“لَبَّيْكَ ٱللَّٰهُمَّ لَبَّيْكَ، لَبَّيْكَ لَا شَرِيكَ لَكَ لَبَّيْكَ، إِنَّ ٱلْحَمْدَ وَٱلنِّعْمَةَ لَكَ وَٱلْمُلْكَ لَا شَرِيكَ لَكَ”

“Here I am O Allah, here I am. Here I am. You have no partners (other gods). To You alone is all praise and all excellence, and to You is all sovereignty. There is no partner to You.”

This is the Du’a that every pilgrim has to repeat after praying the Talbiyah prayer before reaching Makkah.

Step 4

Tawaf

When you are in the holy mosque, you have to perform Tawaf. Tawaf means you have to circle around the Kaba for 7 times counterclockwise.

The starting and the endpoint of Tawaf is the black stone Hajre Aswad. During Tawaf you have to do different Dhikr. When you are near the black stone, you have to recite

“ربنا آتنا في الدنيا حسنة وفي الآخرة حسنة وقنا عذاب النار”

“Rabina Atina Fid-Dunya Hasanatan Wa Fil Akhirati Hasanatan Waqina Adhaban-Nar”

When you are in front of the black stone, you have to raise your hands and say “Allahu Akbar”

After finishing the Tawaf, you have to pray two Rakat salah. You can pray in front of the Makam Ibrahim – the stone on which prophet Ibrahim stood while building the Kaba.

Step 5

Sa’i

After finishing tawaf, you have to perform Sa’I where you have to walk back and forth seven times between the two hills – Safa and Marwa.

During walking between the hills, you can recite any surah, du’a and dhikir.

Step 6

Halq

After completing Sa’I, every pilgrim has to cut their hair. Men can shave off the hair or cut in little size and women have to cut a single lock of hair. By these, your umrah is complete, and you are like a newborn baby as the grace of Allah wipes out your sins.

What are the minimum days for umrah?

The fact is, you don’t need days to perform umrah. You can complete the whole process between 2 hours to a maximum of 5 hours.

What are the umrah visa requirements for Bangladeshi?

From Bangladesh, it is not a challenging task that the visa for umrah. You have to follow the correct process by meeting the visa requirements. To get the access, you have to:

  • Get a valid passport
  • Age 18 years from above
  • Complete vaccinated
  • Two passport size photographs
